No Magic For Portland This Year

"This just was not the right group of guys to get the job done."

The Portland Timbers lost to the Vancouver Whitecaps by a score of 4-1 this past Sunday, effectively ending their season. Had the Timbers won, they would have made the MLS Cup Playoffs, but the loss means the Timbers get to face the offseason early. Following an improbable playoff run in 2015, which saw the Timbers win MLS Cup, Portland never seemed to click in 2016, with inconsistent play holding the team back. Portland won an astonishing 12 home games this year, but 0 on the road. This "tale of two cities" team was largely held back due to roster changes and a general lack of consistency in the starting lineup.

How does Portland change their tactics this offseason? Will they make the playoffs next year?
